Ingegneria Senza Frontiere (ISF) è un’associazione senza fini di lucro, indipendente da qualsiasi governo, parte politica, interesse economico e credo religioso. La rete italiana nasce all’interno del mondo universitario negli anni ‘90 e si rivolge in via preferenziale a studenti, docenti, ricercatori, laureati ed operatori nel settore delle discipline tecnico-scientifiche.

ISF fa propri i principi di fraternità e solidarietà tra tutti i popoli della Terra e persegue gli ideali di pace, libertà e giustizia sociale lottando contro le forme di dipendenza generatrici d’ineguaglianze a livello internazionale. L’attività di ISF si propone di creare uno spazio di progetto comune a “Nord” e a “Sud” del Mondo in cui elaborare, realizzare e diffondere pratiche e tecniche ingegneristiche in grado di favorire la piena realizzazione di tutti gli individui e comunità umane, riconoscendo la base del rapporto tra le diverse culture nella parità e nella reciprocità, in quanto fonte di un comune arricchimento.

Il Manifesto dell’Acqua, di cui riportiamo il testo integrale, è frutto di un lavoro collettivo di tutte le realtà della rete di ISF Italia, iniziato nel giugno 2007 e conclusosi nell’estate 2008. La redazione del Manifesto ha dato vita ad un gruppo trasversale tra le varie sedi di ISF che si occupa del tema dell’Acqua Bene Comune promuovendo momenti di formazione, campagne di pressione politica e supportando le varie sedi nei rispettivi progetti di cooperazione che si occupano di problematiche legata all’acqua.

Il documento denuncia l’abuso, la cattiva gestione e la privatizzazione dell’acqua al fine di affermare il principio che l'acqua non è un prodotto commerciale al pari degli altri, bensì un patrimonio che va protetto, difeso e trattato come tale.

Il Manifesto sottolinea importanti aspetti-chiave: tra questi il principale è l’insostituibilità dell’acqua come diritto alla vita. Oggi l'acqua viene intesa non più come un bene comune ma piuttosto considerata come merce.

In virtù di tutto quello che il mondo vede e non vuole cambiare, dai bollettini di guerra, alle epidemie fino alla mancanza basilare del diritto alla vita, riteniamo necessaria una sensibilizzazione dell’opinione pubblica. Ci auguriamo che il nostro lavoro sortisca una reale presa di coscienza da parte della comunità in cui viviamo, incentivandone l’intervento e l’interessamento a queste tematiche.

Ingegneria Senza Frontiere (ISF) is a non-profit organisation, independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion. The Italian network was established within the academic world in the 90s and wants to involve students, university professors, researchers, graduates and professionals in the field of technical and scientific disciplines.
ISF’s principles are fraternity and solidarity between the peoples of the world and wants to spread ideals of peace, freedom and social justice by struggling against any form of dependence, which creates inequalities at the international level. ISF activities want to create the possibilities of developing a common project that needs to be shared by the "North" and the "South" of the world. This project needs to develop, implement and disseminate engineering techniques and practices that may facilitate the through fulfilment of all individuals and human communities, by recognizing the foundation of relations between different cultures based on equality and reciprocity, as a common source of enrichment.

The Water Manifesto (its unabridged text may be found hereunder) is the result of a collective work of all the ISF associations belonging into the ISF Italia network. Its drafting started in June 2007 and the Manifesto was ready in summer 2008. Thanks to the drafting of this text, a group involving people belonging to the many ISF associations was created and deals with this issue, Water as a Common Good. It encourages training, political pressure campaigns and supports the many ISF associations when working on their cooperation projects focusing on issues related to water.
This document wants to expose the abuses, mismanagement and the privatization of water in order to support the principle that water is not a profit-making product as any other kind of product, it is a common heritage which needs to be protected, defended and treated as such.
This Manifesto points out a number of key aspects: among these, the most significant one is the irreplaceable nature of water as the fundamental right for everyone’s life, since water is now seen as a profit-making asset, instead of a common good, thus causing a wider gap between the south and the north of the world.
On the basis of everything the world is witnessing and not changing, war bulletins, epidemics and the lack of the fundamental right to life, we deem it necessary for people to become aware of it, we hope that our work will contribute to raise real awareness of all citizens, and encourage people’s involvement and action, even though they will be 'just' participate in a popular and democratic way.
